Three generations of car hire in Malta

The same family has handed visitors the keys to Malta since the year the war ended. Here is how Princess Garage began, and how it still runs today.

Princess Garage was established in 1945, when the late Frank Borg bought the business after serving in the Royal Air Force.

Through the 1950s the car hire and taxi trade was busy, with a large number of British troops stationed in Malta. As tourism began to flourish in the 1960s, the island needed more cars, and the business grew to meet the demand.

Today Princess Garage is run by Frank's son Raymond and his grandson Christian. We still do it the family way: well-kept cars, fair prices, and service from people who answer their own phone.

Where the name comes from

During the royal couple's time in Malta, before the coronation, Princess Garage supplied a car to the royal party. The photograph shows that visit, and the car we were proud to provide.
